UNITED WAY OF LAUREL COUNTY

Tornado Recovery Update

As of December 31, 2025, United Way of Laurel County has funded 151 grants totaling $490,569.00.

Our organization operated the Donation & Supply Center for 7 months, helping to distribute donated items to tornado victims. United Way of Laurel County will continue with long-term recovery efforts as long as they are needed.

In addition to long-term tornado recovery efforts, we will continue with community partnerships, including the Summer Feeding Program, Shop With Cop, Crime Stoppers, Community Thanksgiving, Shriners, Parkinson in Motion, North & South Laurel Little League, Walk to End Alzheimers, Henry Paslick Technology Scholarships, North Laurel FFA Alumni, the construction of wheelchair ramps, and in-kind donations to The Life Center and White Flag Ministry.

Thank you to everyone that donated, volunteered and helped in anyway so that we can continue to assist our community and to continue the work of United Way of Laurel County.

About United Way of Laurel County

Support Laurel County's Recovery

In the wake of the devastating May 16, 2025, tornado in London–Laurel County, Judge Executive David Westerfield and Mayor Randall Weddle have designated the United Way of Laurel County as the official organization to receive funds for long-term disaster recovery, just as it did following the 2012 tornado.

United Way of Laurel County is now accepting financial donations to support those affected. All funds will remain in Laurel County, with zero administrative fees, and will go directly to local disaster relief efforts and families.

Making An Impact

Serving Laurel County Since 1956

The United Way of Laurel County has connected donors to urgent local needs for nearly 70 years. Guided by a volunteer board of seven dedicated Laurel Countians, we support programs in disaster relief, hunger, homelessness, home repairs, and children’s needs.

We’re not just grantmakers — we work hand-in-hand with the community to create lasting change. From our Summer Feeding Program with KCEOC to our ongoing response to the 2012 tornado, we have a history of showing up — and staying — when our neighbors need us most.

NOW OPEN!

Our Donation & Supply Center Is Now Open

Our new donation and supply center is now open at the old Food Fair building, located at 1812 North Main Street next to Auto Zone. Our team is currently in the process of moving all supplies there.

Those wishing to donate supplies, as well as victims from the tornado that need supplies, should go to this location.

The center has most items needed in an emergency, including water, tarps and totes. The center is being staffed by Laurel County Road Department employees, work release inmates from the Laurel County Correctional Facility, as well as volunteers from the United Way of Laurel County and other local organizations.
